Are old cannabis convictions expunged in Minnesota?
Records of certain low-level cannabis offenses, and of some dismissed cannabis charges, are expunged automatically. The BCA identifies eligible records and seals them with no application needed.
…the bureau of criminal apprehension shall grant expungement relief to each qualifying person whose records the bureau possesses and seal the bureau's records without requiring an application, petition, or motion.

What does the Cannabis Expungement Board do?
The Cannabis Expungement Board reviews records of controlled-substance sale and possession charges, including cannabis offenses that were not expunged automatically, and decides whether to vacate the conviction, dismiss charges and expunge records, or resentence to a lesser offense. It notifies the courts of people eligible for relief and decides for itself when its work is complete.
